Teaching Reiki to right people

On reaching the monastery, Usui found the abbot in great pain. He laid his hands on the affected part and the pain disappeared in no time.

Thereafter Usui decided to go to the slums of the city and treat beggers and help them lead a different life. He lived there and treated them for seven years but to. his great disappointment he found always old faces coming to him for treatment.

Beggers and Reiki

He was told by beggers that they found it easier to beg than to work. Now Usui realised that he had not taught beggers to feel gratitude. Then he thought out some Reiki maxims: They were: Do not worry, be not angry, respect your parents, teachers and elders, earn honestly and show gratitude to others.

By that time the importance of exchange of energy was clear to him. He had understood that people needed to give back what they received.

He started teaching his maxims throughout the country. The purpose of the symbols he had experienced was also clear by then. He wanted people to learn the art so that they could look after their well-being themselves. He began to train young men who would travel with him till he died around the turn of the century.

He returned to Kyoto and to invite attention kindled a large torch on streets. He explained to querries that he was looking for people in search of the true light, cure those who were ill and oppressed and required to be healed.

He started travelling around and teaching Reiki. On his death, he was buried in a Kyoto temple and his gravestone carries the full stroy of his life written on it.
