Having realized that he had the intellectual answer, he went back to the Zen monastery in Kyoto and was encouraged by the chief there to go to the holy mountain of Kuriyama-16 miles. away. There he resorted to fast and meditation for 21 days to be in contact with the level of consciousness.
Discovering Reiki Within himself
During the period he read from the 'sutras', sang hymns and meditated. Twenty days passed and nothing happened. On the last day at dawn he saw a shinning light coming towards him with great speed. It began to become bigger and bigger. Usui felt like running away at first but later mustered courage to keep sitting. The light hit him in the middle of the forehead. He saw millions of little bubbles in blue, lilac, pink and other colours of rainbow and finally a great white light and he saw the well known Sanskrit symbols in front of him glowing in shinning gold. Dr. Usui went into a trance-like state. When he regained his normal state of consciousness, it was broad day light. He was excited and felt energetic and strong and ran down the mountain to tell the abbot of the Zen monastery about his strange experience. In his rush he hurt his toe. He held it in his hand for a few moments and was surprized to find that the bleeding had stopped and so the pain.
Dr Mikao Usui heal pain by Reiki
Since he was on fast for 21 days he felt greatly hungry and stopped at
an inn at the wayside and ordered scores of items for breakfast The innkeeper warned him not to eat so much after a long fast but Dr. Usui not only ate it all but digested also the whole stuff.
Another miracle: The daughter of the innkeeper had been having toothache for several days. Usui laid his hands on her face and she immediately got relief from pain and swelling. She ran to her father and told him that the monk had miraculous powers.
One more experience: On reaching the monastery, Usui found the abbot in great pain. He laid his hands on the affected part and the pain disappeared in no time.
